Born and raised in Istanbul, Serra Türker was always fascinated by the concept of colour; and how to combine them in harmony. Beginning as a painter, she moved to New York to study at the Rhode Island School of Design working principally with textiles. It was here that she fell in love with the construction of accessories, deciding on the spot to translate her background in fashion into her own brand, and MISELA was born. Drawing inspiration from the pattern, Cintamani, MISELA has adopted the motif as a key part of its brand identity and design philosophy. In ancient cultures, Cintamani symbolises the eye of reason, the eye of the heart and the eye of the tiger. By taking on the everlasting pattern, MISELA creates modern talismans of feminine energy, strength and power. The name of the brand is, in fact, an acronym of designer and creative director Serra Türker’s sisters names Mina and Lara. MISELA women across the world represent the attributes of independence, strength and authenticity. Family and friends that support one another and lift each other higher.
Established in New York in 2008, MISELA appeals to women in pursuit of modern and timeless designs that are also unique and playful. Two years later, with a deep connection to her home city, Türker opened a small workshop in Istanbul; harnessing traditional Turkish artisanal talent and resources. The first MISELA store in Pera, Istanbul was opened in 2012. Shortly after, Misela’s Made to Order collection featuring the iconic herringbone monogram pattern by Türker made its debut and has since become a collector’s item. Following an expansion period beginning with Palmarina Boutique in Bodrum, Turkey, MISELA launched the Mayfair Boutique in London in 2019, marking the 11th year anniversary of the brand.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Pattern, form and regulation in design provides a very powerful artistic code, which, according to legend, has an internal, as well as an external, impact.
Drawing inspiration from the ancient guide, Cintamani, MISELA has adopted the motif as a key part of its brand identity and design philosophy. Imprinted on each MISELA bag, the Misela women carry their own personal talismans with them at all times, resulting in renewed energy and strength.
In Eastern Culture, Cintamani is believed to refer to the eye of reason and the eye of the heart. In Ottoman culture, the pattern featured on the garments of the Imperial Family. It was employed as a reference to the eye of the tiger; a symbol of power and vitality. By taking on this exacting pattern, MISELA shows its respect for tradition, evolution and history. In short, Misela bags are modern talismans of feminine energy, strength and power.
